Frequently Asked Questions

Can a foreigner buy a shelf company in Germany?

Yes. There is no German residency or nationality requirement to own a GmbH or to buy a ready-made (shelf) company. Foreign individuals and foreign companies can hold 100% of the shares.

How quickly can I take over a ready-made GmbH?

Because a shelf company is already entered in the commercial register (Handelsregister), the transfer is fast — usually a few days. The main steps are a notarised share transfer and registering the new managing director.

Do I have to travel to Germany to complete the purchase?

The share transfer must be notarised, but it can often be handled through a power of attorney, so travelling in person is not always necessary.

What is the difference between a shelf company and a shell company?

A shelf company is a pre-registered, dormant company kept ready to be sold later with a clean history. A shell company is an entity with little or no active business, often used to hold assets. See our guide on shell vs shelf companies.

Which countries do you cover?

We provide ready-made and shelf companies in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, including GmbH, UG, AG and holding structures.

How much does a shelf company cost?

The price depends on the company age, paid-in share capital and jurisdiction. Contact us for a current quote for your situation.
